One afternoon last week I decided I was going to get some sewing done before my kids came home from school. It's getting cold here in Boston and I refuse to turn the heat up too high durning the day. So I put on my favorite sweater, the one with the cute bell sleeves, and went to my craftroom determined to finish some cushies.
I was moving right along when suddenly my machine started making that wierd noise...you know the one it makes when the bobbin thread is jammed. I tried to lift up the foot to investigate and couldn't move my right hand. When I looked closer, I realized that not only had I sewn the sleeve of my sweater to my fabric, but it was caught in the feed dogs! How I managed that is still a mystery. Needless to say, It was a real adventure trying to free myself with my left hand while trying not to completely ruin my sweater and permanently damage my machine.
In the meantime, my 14 year old son came home from school with 4 of his friends and found me sweating and swearing with a sewing machine attached to my arm. They finally stopped laughing and helped me get my hand free when they realized I couldn't make them something to eat if I was trapped in my craftroom.
Next time it's cold in my house, I'll be turning up the heat instead of putting on a sweater!

Saving the world one pincushion at a time!

Hi there, and welcome to my blog. I thought it might be a good idea for my first post, to tell you a little bit about myself.
As I said in my profile, I'm a wife, a mom and an etsy shop owner who loves to spend time with my family and create super cute sewing notions to make your crafting and sewing more functional and fun.
I live in the suburbs north of Boston in a little country town that I love. I grew up in the city, so it took some getting used to being greeted by wild turkeys and deer when getting the paper in the morning! My husband works from home which is wonderful.....most of the time.I have a 14 year old son and an 18 year old daughter, so things are never boring around here. They are great kids but they sure do keep me on my toes.
I have my own little piece of heaven in the spare bedroom that I turned into my craftroom. I spend alot of time in there creating all kinds of great stuff for my shop. I also really love to make handmade gifts for family and friends.
With the holidays right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to share instructions for some of my favorite handmade gifts so be sure to come on by and get a few ideas!
Love,
Laurie
